Why drink kombucha?

Kombucha is a naturally fermented tea that is refreshing, lightly sparkling and full of flavour. During fermentation it develops beneficial organic acids and live cultures.

Many people enjoy kombucha as a delicious alternative to sugary soft drinks or alcohol.

What makes Boo Chi different from other kombucha?

Boo Chi is brewed slowly using traditional fermentation methods and organic ingredients.

Our kombucha is raw and unpasteurised, meaning the live cultures created during fermentation remain in the drink.

Unlike many kombucha brands that rely on flavourings or concentrates, each Boo Chi flavour is created using just one whole organic ingredient and nothing else, allowing the natural character of the fruit or botanical to shine through.

How is Boo Chi different from supermarket kombucha?

Many commercial kombucha brands pasteurise or filter their drinks to extend shelf life.

Boo Chi is brewed traditionally and never pasteurised, meaning it remains raw, alive and naturally fermented. This preserves the character of the kombucha and the cultures created during fermentation.

Where does the name Boo Chi come from?

The name Boo Chi is inspired by kombucha itself. Kombucha is pronounced kom-boo-cha, and the word Chi in Chinese represents energy or life force.

The three lines in our logo reference the ancient Chinese roots of kombucha and symbolise the flow of energy that sits at the heart of the Boo Chi philosophy.

What is the shelf life?

Although kombucha does not technically expire, we include a best before date to ensure you enjoy Boo Chi at its best flavour and balance.

Because Boo Chi is raw and alive, the flavour may continue to evolve slowly over time.

Does Boo Chi need to be refrigerated?

Yes. Boo Chi should always be kept refrigerated.

Because it is a raw, live product, refrigeration slows the natural fermentation process and helps maintain the best flavour.

Why do you use amber glass bottles?

Amber glass protects the kombucha from UV light, which can damage the live cultures.

Glass also helps preserve the natural flavour of the kombucha and ensures the drink remains stable and fresh.

Is Boo Chi gluten free and vegan?

Yes. Boo Chi is both gluten free and vegan.

Can you shake Boo Chi?

We recommend opening your bottle gently and avoiding vigorous shaking, as Boo Chi is naturally sparkling and contains live cultures.

Does Boo Chi contain alcohol?

Like all naturally fermented kombucha, Boo Chi contains trace amounts of alcohol.

It is bottled at less than 0.3% ABV and will remain below 0.5% ABV when stored correctly in the refrigerator.

How much caffeine does Boo Chi contain?

Because kombucha is made from tea, it contains a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine.

Boo Chi contains approximately 2–3 mg of caffeine per bottle, which is significantly lower than coffee or most soft drinks.

What do you mean by “live” kombucha?

Boo Chi is raw and unpasteurised, meaning the live cultures created during fermentation remain in the drink.

You may occasionally see natural strands or small particles in the bottle. These are a normal part of fermentation and are perfectly safe to drink.

Will Boo Chi continue fermenting in the bottle?

Yes. Boo Chi continues to ferment very slowly over time.

Occasionally you may notice natural sediment or a small baby culture forming in the bottle. This is completely normal for live kombucha.

Can I drink Boo Chi during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Because Boo Chi is unpasteurised, we recommend speaking with your GP or healthcare professional before drinking kombucha if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Boo Chi high in sugar?

No. During fermentation much of the sugar used in brewing is consumed by the culture.

This results in a kombucha that is naturally lower in sugar than many soft drinks.

How should I drink Boo Chi?

Boo Chi can be enjoyed straight from the bottle, poured over ice, or used as a refreshing mixer in cocktails or mocktails.

It is perfect as a natural pick-me-up during the day or as a sophisticated alcohol-free alternative in the evening.

Can Boo Chi be mixed with alcohol?

Absolutely. Boo Chi pairs beautifully with spirits such as tequila, vodka and gin and makes a refreshing base for cocktails.

I’ve never tried kombucha before. Which Boo Chi flavour should I start with?

If you're new to kombucha, we recommend starting with one of our lighter, fruit-forward flavours such as Strawberry or Fresh Ginger. They are refreshing, balanced and a great introduction to kombucha.
